As crap as it is, theres nothing you or I can do about it. This years lift passes are going to cost considerably more than we had bargained for as a result.

I went away in October for a weekend and got 1.23 and sad at the time that I would wait to buy Euros for skiing as that rate was the worst I had ever got. Good move, Tony

Only thing you could do is limit the area you ski and buy a pass for a smaller domian. Not ideal but depending where you're going and how much you want to explore, you could save quite a few £.

We're going to Saint Martin de Belleville for New Year week and I've decided to get the Menuires/St Martin pass (172€) and upgrade 1 or 2 individual days for Val Thoren (17.50€ per day) or 3 vallees (22€). I think that'll be plenty to keep me happy, especially as we've got some near-beginners in the group.

It might work out similar for other resorts?

Also for any beginners, look out for special lift passes for beginners / limited lifts. Might be worth it for the first day.

2 weeks today, I'll be on my way. Can't wait! :D

Unfortunately it is what it is!!! I've always questioned the wisdom of converting back to sterling when buying beer or lift passes  Sometimes it just has to be done

Don't even mention that word "don't go " it's bad enough now counting down the days, checking forecasts, webcams daily. Get past the new year and it's only three weeks.

I agree - it is rubbish. When I look at euro prices I just pretend its a sterling price. That way, if it works out that I pay a bit less than the euro price then it's a bonus. However, if you divide the lift pass price into an hourly rate then I think it's still good value. I reckon I'll be out on the snow for about 7 hrs a day & am skiing for 8 days, which means an hourly rate of £3.82. Let's face it, what activities can you do for that price these days? It's OK Tony_H you don't have to think of any ) .

There's very little you can do at my local sports centre for less than that per hour. We're self catering, so I guess it will be pasta, pasta & more pasta, but quite frankly I can happily put up with that if it means I can still afford to go skiing!
The plan is.... there's no plan!
