Arriving on the 19th of December with 2 other families and staying for a week at the St Lukas Chalet with Snow Coach. Amoungst our group we have three 16 year olds that hopefully will be having some supervised apres fun with the 'Grown Ups'. Does anyone know if there is problems with the 'youth' being in bars with parents at sensible hours or is it strictly over 18 etc. We are not talking night clubs but just bar/restaurants with a abit of apres ski atmosphere. Also anyone know what its like there 4 Xmas. Skied many times but never before over Xmas, and although nearly 50 getting quite exited about it!! Will Santa be able to find me to drop of my pressies or will I have to make do with beer? Any pointers will be greatfully recieved.

You will have absolutely no problems in apres ski bars with 16 year olds other than keeping them sober. Legal drinking age in Austria is 16, and unlike Germany that is not limited to wine and beer.

I have been to Mayrhofen at Xmas, and the only down side is the very drunk Germans on the slopes. Other than that its a great place to be, and just make sure you get up on the first lifts in the mornings and you wont have to queue.

Many thanks, really looking forward to it. With your comments on the other thread stating that there is already snow in the village/Town is making me exited like a kid, as this will be potentially my first 'White Xmas'.
We have a mixed bunch when it comes to experience from Very good intermediates to brand new out of the box bar a couple of lessons on the dry slopes.
Any suggestions or recommendations re Mountain restaurants, apres ski bars or anything else will be well recieved.
Do the locals do anything different or tradtional on Xmas Eve?

SW, from Wikipedia  , Upper Austria, Salzburg and Tirol prohibit the consumption of distilled beverages below the age of 18, while Carinthia and Styria prohibit drinks containing more than 12% or 14% of alcohol respectively in this age bracket. Carinthia additionally requires adolescents to maintain a blood alcohol level below 0.05%, while Upper Austria prohibits "excessive consumption", and Salzburg prohibits consumption that would result in a state of intoxication. Prohibitions in Vienna, Burgenland, Lower Austria and Vorarlberg apply only to alcohol consumption in public. Vienna additionally prohibits the consumption of alcohol in schools under the age of 18. Enforcement in super markets is quite strict while in restaurants and bars enforcement is quite lax especially for beer and wine.
