How often do you need to get skis serviced?

HI,
Bought my first set of skis last year, and have only had 1 weeks use. Since then, they been in the loft. Is it advised to get them serviced every year, or just every couple?

Don`t want to be throwing money away for no reason!!!

I get my skis serviced after 1 weeks skiing... It's for the best. Keep em in tip top condish.

My advice would be to get them serviced once at the end of the season at least, but it really depends on what damage may have been done. You will need your edges to be sharp, so I'd get them done at the very least, and possibly a wax on the bases. If your bases have any marks or grooves in them, get them in for a full service.

I am going to start getting them serviced in resort after my last days skiing, as they seem to be cheaper generally and much more efficient - none of this "ready in 2 weeks" rubbish.

Once a season, at the least, my friend. Some people get them done after each trip, but that might not be necessary. Keep off the stones and rocks though )

If youa re getting them done and the bases only have a few scratches make sure they DO NOT grind the bases.

:oops: This servicing seems more complicated than i first thought! i was just going to take them to the shop i bought them for, and ask them to service them!! The bases arn`t oo bad really, just the odd light scratch, no reral damage as such.

rob123, in that case just specify you don't want a base grind, wil probably make it cheaper as well.

Get them done in the resort as it's often cheaper and quicker than in the UK.
