Flow Rival Boa boots

I've a pair of SP boots at the moment, good boot, but it does my head in (and back!) doing the laces up (its my age, honest). I am considering some boots with the twist type to tighten the boots and the Flows are on the list along with some K2's - anybody got experience of either?

When I used to soft boot snowboard a lot, I had some pretty gnarly calouses on my hands from pulling the laces tight enough. I found that much of the problem was that the boots were too big. In order to get my foot solid in the boot I needed to pull the laces like a gorrila. The wire lacing systems are nice, but if you get the boots too big and try to compensate by over tightening the laces, the mechanism may break.

Try to get boots with a seperate liner that you can tweak a little by adding some foam padding where needed (maybe around the heel). Snowboard boots do pack in a little, though not as much as ski boots. Getting a good fit in new boots with thin socks will allow you to go to a thicker sock as the boots loosen up with use.

Best solution of all for a good fit w/o having to crank on the laces is a thermo molding liner (Thermoflex type). This liner will mold exactly to your foot for the best fit and comfort. Just put them in the oven (instructions for this abound on the net), then put them on to mold them to your feet. They are also the warmest type of liner.

Again, not buying them too big is essential for a good fit.

:D OK, I was being too brief. You only use the oven once to form the liners.

I have those liners in my existing boots - do you have a technique for getting rid the awful stench from them!! (Girlfriend would really appreciate it too!!!)

Liked the way of tighening the laces too!! never seen before.
