Anyway, as i'm going into my final year at uni soon following my placement year, i initially didn't think i could go skiing this year.
However, due to my placement going well, i've been offered a job on a part time basis with more money!! Thus, I'm rocking up the slopes again!!
Went to see my old school mate andy bennett compete at xscape yesterday which really got my mouth watering,www.britishsnowtour.com (look at the bottom pic of castleford, benett did a backflip INTO a grind on that box!!!! mental!!) I'm also booked to have a freestyle lesson on the 20th November at tamworth www.salomongromcamps.co.uk
Anyway, i'm asking for some suggestions as to where I should go this winter. 3rd of Jan is an absolute latest and 19th december earliest, cheaper the better as i now have to buy some more ski's & boots. I'm going with GF but there could be others involved too? Last year I did Andorra early jan, although it was a great place the ammount of "skiing" was very limited due to lack of the white stuff. Don't want this again, i'd rather pay the extra and be guaranteed some skiing.
Hope everyone is well! Caron-a, how's the legs? Tony-h, how many ski trips is it this year?? AJ, Pav, Iceghost, the bandit, mike from ns, jan, admin (don't remember your actual name?) : I've missed you all!!
Winter is back!!! woooooooo hoooooo!! :D :D :D

Personally, only got 2 definites planned so far: Mayrhofen 26th December for 6 days, and then St Anton 4th Jan for a week. Hoping to get away end of March too, possibly Zermatt if I can afford it.
As for suggestions: I am told you must go to St Anton and Zermatt before you die, Cervinia will have plenty of snow early doors, and Bad Gastein is a decent shout. I did Verbier in March/April and enjoyed it a lot, and its high up there too.
Let us know what you get sorted, you get me, innit, blate.

If value is what you crave then forget the peak weeks and go for the 3rd January. For that week you can be pretty sure there'll be late availability so well worth your waiting a bit to see where and when the snow falls.

Not so sure about Bad gastein, when we went there was no runs to the village and the village run was served souly by fake snow!
Meet people on the Gondola who had been 4 years in a row and not once could they ski down to the village!
Just my tupence worth!

I liked the look of the cervinia pic on the other thread! I'll look into the st anton and the other resorts you mentioned. 3rd of jan week seems almost a cert, would like to be out for christmas week in an ideal world - guaranteed to be a white one, but cost seems to be a bit high.
Has anyone noticed book prices are a bit higher than last year? Is this because soon enough there won't be any snow to ski on?? might just be me?

knees are doing well thanks for asking. well, actually they're really sore today because of lots of alcohol fuelled dancing in high heels last night  (celebrating the imminent arrival of my new jacket.)
my suggestion would be les arcs, cheap, cheerful and white 8)

Glad you're back and with plans... :D
I can't suggest any skiing for you in NS as it doesn't really get going here until early January - unless it is exceptionally cold. However, if the present trend continues, this may be the year for some late Novenber skiing here. There should be some wind shield frost scraping by Wednesday morning.
Elton John is in Halifax this coming weekend for two shows - maybe he'll take our cold weather back to the UK with him.
I thought you had been hiding somewhere with freezywaters - maybe cutting a new track somewhere. He just returned recently as well.
Mike
