Hello,

I'm from Australia and looking to find an area in Europe which is good skiing from the 20th March onwards.

Would love to stay in Austria, but also looking for other places which will have good conditions!

Where are some of the areas in Europe which have seasons that run later or have good spring skiing?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Max

I would check out Verbier Switzerland, Courchevel, or Chamonix.

I skiied the last week of the season in wargrain, austria and thoroughly enjoyed myself! However we were helped massively but about a 30-40cm downfall on day 2 otherwise the snow cover could have been dodgy by day 6! This next am hoping to hit les arcs which should be good due to the amount of skiing and its very high making it good for end of season stuff. Val thorens would be good that time of the year as its something like 3000m's so snow shouldn't be a problem!

Check out Saas-Fee, Zermatt, Tignes, Val d'Isere, Verbier, Chamonix, all will have late season skiing. Zermatt is open year round :D

What about end of october?

I'd love to do a skiing trip for my 40th but (apart from glacier) october is the inbetween month from southern to northern hemisphere. Am I wrong?

I skied have Zermatt in October. Only the glacier was officially open, but folks were skiing back to Trockener Steg anyway. The resort has AFAIK installed some snowmaking since to cover the shortfall. I went on the Swiss Ski Test, booked through the Tourist Office which was a great way to try loads of shiny new skis, 800 pairs were available at the depot at Trockener Steg. :D

Caron - go to www.mountainsun.co.uk
They do trips in October through to December in Tignes, from £99 for 3 days. But I think you are right - only the glacier is likely to be open that time of year.
