I am baffled. Perhaps someone can enlighten me. Why, when it is more wintery in the muntains than it was during winter are the bulk of resorts in Switzerland in Austria either closed, or closing this weekend?
I was at Davos yesterday and there is still snow in the village. Not only that, there were lots of folks on the slopes. So - why close?
Our skiing should not be decided by the name of the month, but the weather in the mountains.
Argh!

I think I was told once that the start and end of season dates are pretty much set in advance as most of the staff have other jobs to go to.
Might be wrong.

Its to do with demand.
If there is still plenty of snow in the Alps in May and its also hot and sunny in the beach resorts many people will not be interested in the skiing any more (skiing all the way for me!!). Costs them a lot of money to keep the infrastructure up and running, and if there isnt enough people there they lose money!! So they close

That's why Sunshine Village closes at the end of May.. it's not that they have run out of snow-there's just no demand!
