As most of you know I can't help asking dumb questions
Having been reading these charts for some time I feel even more foolish than usual asking this one, but can anyone explain the importance of a "Max Freezing Level"? as per the J2Ski reports, for example: http://www.j2ski.com/snow_forecast/Austria/Niederau_snow.html
So, looking at today's forecast I see that the Minimum Freezing Level is 20m (at the time of writing) - kinda got that bit but the Max is at 720m ?!?!? So what happens above that? Do we have an new and unknown state of matter, does it thaw or spin off into a whole new dimension?? Pavel – Can you advise on the best wax to use in this snow state?
Hopefully someone will come to my rescue!
Cheers
Jan

It gives Dave 700m of leeway! Always hedging his bets our admin man. It will mostly be frozen between 20m and 720m but where exactly nobody knows. He likes to keep up guessing!
I would say, if you've got any beers outside cooling, bring'em in before they freeze!

Tsk tsk... Jan, when the Max Freezing Level goes over your head... it's gonna melt... got that?
Freezing Level is the altitude at which the air temperature will be zero - Min and Max are for the 24-hours, so the Min will usually be sometime during the night and Max sometime during the afternoon.
Anyway, never mind about that... there hasn't been a bulge like this in the wiggly lines for months :-
Precipitation and Temperature for Geneva
Oo err missus, I can feel a short break coming on...

Jan,
Max freezing is when there is frost on your beard.
Min is when the beard frost melts.
Or is it the other way round..?
See you last week in March!

Yeah the freezing level is where zero degrees celcius is. Anywhere above it is minus something and anywhere below it is plus something. The lower the freezing level, the better!
