I can't imagine their tourist office is any different from anywhere else, they're just sat there waiting for your call/email.
They've a nice website at http://www.kranjska-gora.si/Tourist-information
Who are the they who have overbooked? First Choice, presumably. In which case Bandit seems absolutely right: the company should have fixed everything, including your ski package. I am not a lawyer, but I reckon your contract with First Choice is for the original booking, inclusive of the ski package, and if they couldn't come up with that they should have offered you a complete and acceptable alternative or your money back. If you took the option of cancelling your original contract and got your money back, you are then in the position of making a completely new booking. In that case, you cannot expect anything from the previous contract and you are starting afresh. This, I re-emphasise, is the view not of a lawyer but of an ordinary punter.
But I wouldn't worry about it. I've never been to Kranska Gora, but I can't imagine it is any different from any of the ski resorts I do know where you will have no difficulty going to the ticket office and getting your lift passes; no difficulty in finding a hire shop for your equipment; and no difficulty in booking lessons with the local ski school. As suggested, a little time on the internet might help you pre-book so that you feel more secure.
First Choice doesn't seem to come out of this smelling sweetly. Perhaps they have an agent "embedded" in the forum who will speak up for the company.
You are going to have a great holiday. Enjoy! 8)

Hi I'm new to this forum and need some advice.Should of been going to borovets on the 15th, but found out today they have overbooked on flights so we have looked around and booked to stay at the hotel Lek in Kranjska Gora in slovinia. As we have had to change our holidaty we are now been classed as a late booking, as a result First Choice have told us it is to late to book...full ski package for 1 child. 2 adult ski hire and lift pass and private lessons for me. We have to sort our selves out when we get there (poor service from holiday company ) any way never been to this resort before any advice or contacts and what to pay would be very helpful. Hope some one can give some advice..thanks francesca

Hi francesca1 Welcome to the forum. As you are booked on a package, it's reading as though none of this mess is your fault. From where I'm sitting First Choice should be doing all the running around, not you.
If you really want to go on the holiday you have booked, I would be insisting that they provide it, and quoting the Sale of Goods Act, or at least be talking to my local Trading Standards Officer about your rights.
I would not worry about having to book a ski package when you get there, all resorts have ski teachers and hire shops. Ironically, as you are now being forced to DIY, it's usually the case that you will get better hire equipment than within the bulk contract from your T.O.
If you feel that you'd like to get this sorted before you arrive, perhaps an email to the Tourist Office in the resort would help.
Remember, Babelfish is your friend and can provide lots of amusement for the recipient of your request :D

Please let us all know how you get on :D

I have just sent First Choice a long letter of complaint having returned from Sauze. This centered around the rep in resport not doing his job, and unreasonable noise in the hotel, which he didnt deal with.
First Choice are not a good company to go on a skiing holiday with. Having been with Inghams and Neilson before, I can say that is definitely the case.
Therefore, it comes as no surprise to hear the issues with First Choice, which comes as little comfort I am afraid.
However, having read what happened to you, First Choice have to accept full responsibility for double booking you, and should therefore be doing everything possible to replace the holiday with an equivelant.
I wanted to go to KG a couple of years ago for a few days, but they closed the resort mid march due to a lack of snow. The base this year is a little better, but it has been very very warm out there. Hopefully this weeks snow will sort things out. It doesnt have a big ski area, but its pretty and there are some nice runs. Nice country, Slovenia.
Get on the phone to First Choice and inform them its their responsibility to ensure what you had before is provided this time. Late deal, my a**e.
Good luck
