The wife is really interested in going here next year but I'm not convinced, the snow seems to be a bit hit and miss compared to the Alps. Can anyone give any advice? The hotel we're looking at is the Nordic.
I would have got away with it if it wasn't for those pesky kids!

It seems to have moved on from being the student/party place/chav ski resort, and they have made an attempt to make it much more hi brow.
However, the weather is unreliable, moreso than in central europe. I am attracted by the spanish lifestyle and the sun, but I wouldnt want to book up in advance and then find there no snow to ski on. It does seem as if that scenario is far more likely in Andorra, which is why I havent risked going there yet.

I went out there for New Year this year.
Its a great little resort and now they have opened up the mountains there is a lot of skiing that can be done.
The snow is variable however they do maintain it well with snow cannons. Have to say that for our first couple of days it was really icy in patches so it wasn't ideal for nervous skiers and my mate who was a beginner didn't progress as quickly as i would have anticipated but once it dumped with snow it created perfect conditions.
I wouldn't hesitate to go back (am even thinking of going for Easter as according to the instructors they getsome of their best snow at the end of March)

we were at soldeu the first week in march last year and found it very changeble we had a little snow but it was mostly the snow cannons that kept it going ,in that week there was 2 good days but mostly sun which gets fairly warm, and during the afternoons it was slushy then freezes at night which left us on sheet ice in a few places, but it was fun and very cheap, and last year was pants in most places ,we will go again some day,oh if you do go its best to get a hotel in soldeu we stayed in eltarter just down the road ,but most the action is at soldeu and to walk up there is knackering after being on the slopes all day, and if you take the cross country route (short cut) its stinky, those who have been will know why,

Soldeu is a nice little town that serves a great piste area; linking to Pas de la Casa. Soldeu is lower and has trees; it is a little more challenging than the flowing blues of Pas. Soldeu is a more ski-friendly area; whereas borders will love the naturals in Pas. The Pyrenees usually enjoy good weather of snow or sun eg. minimal cloudy, English days.
