I'm looking to hire ski gear through SkiSet for our second family holiday in Niederau Austria. The choice of hire shop is perfect as it's the one we used last year.
However, I have two concerns. One: Is SkiSet reliable? and second: On the booking form I need to click on helmets for the children, but the click box doesn't work, I feel this isn't so much a of problem as the staff were really helpful last year and will sort us out once there.
The discounts are tempting giving a saving of around 40 Euros - I'm just looking for some reassurance.

Dear Glyn
Ok here's the deal from my own experience in December 2007
I spent umpteen days doing nerdy anal research on the whole ski hire scenario for my much planned and hugely anticipated new year ski trip in Chamonix.
Here is the information that I gathered for Chamonix ski rental at New Year.
1. The Ski Set "discount" via this web site was the same as if you book direct with them. In fact if you do some more searching via some of the voucher codes sites you'll get a bigger discount.
2. Sport 2000 offered a similar and, depending on your choice of ski, mostly cheaper option.
3. Armed with the Sport 2000 info I found out exactly who the franchisee's were.
4. Once I had that info I approached them directly and not only could I specify exactly which ski I wanted (rather than what you're given in most shops) but I saved 40 Euros ski hire cost for the week!
5. All I can say is that the saving added up to a few extra ice cold frothing lagers for a very happy new year.
Good Luck

Hi Glyn, allow me to give a partisan view... 8)
This is j2ski's third season working with SkiSet as our Ski Hire partners and, in our experience so far, they're extremely reliable.
Of course, it's difficult for a network of 600 shops to be perfect, all the time, but we know they're very responsive to any service issues.
I'll bring their attention to your comment about the helmet booking checkbox (though I've just tried this myself and it seems to work for me).
As well as the basic 20% discount, at the moment you'll also benefit from the 7th day free if you're staying for a week.
If you (or anyone else using SkiSet) do have any comments at all on the service you receive, please feel free to send me a Private Message and I'll make sure it gets addressed promptly.

Hi,
I'm just back from a week in la clusaz and used the skiset link from this website.
To be honest we were more than happy with the service and the price. The prices in-store were higher than the price we were quoted on the website. The staff were very friendly and helpful and encouraged us to come in anytime to swop skis so that we could try all the skis available to us. we were also invited to come in and get the skis waxed whenever we want.
We will certainly be using them again.
Hope this helps
