Thanks for the tips ! Think I'll just have to stash up on euro's then
and sort the remortgage out when I return !

As you all say will still drink the same amount whatever the cost.

I've been tracking the exchange rate for a while now (purely looking at the Post Office web site) and it seems to be creeping up a bit, touch wood! When it plumetted before Christmas I could get 998 Euros for my imaginary £1000, between Christmas and the New year I could get 1020, last Thursday it was 1068, Friday was 1078 and today it's 1089.

I have just come back from morzine and was paying 7.50€ for a large (pint) beer.

9€ for bowl soup

5€ bowl chips, etc etc

So yeah....bit pricey

Kaprun at New Year was 3.50e for a small beer & 5.50E for a flying hirsch. Not too bad given Chamonix is 5.50e a beer and we're off there next week with no kids for a blast...........expensive looking blast I think!

Well I sorted our evening tipples out. We at work were selling gift sets of 4 miniatures of whisky for £20 at Xmas. To-day the Boots sale started 75% off, makes them a fiver for 4 miniatures, then my discount, makes them £3 for 4. Bought rather a lot. Miniatures packed all around our cases.

I remember the days when you could get a pint for 21p in the saloon and 19p in the public bar

I'm afraid my first pints cost me 1s 6d, equivalent to seven and a half pence.

Rose, make sure your suitcases are padlocked!
