It's all right Tony, you just worry about the colour

Hang on Trench ......
I really thought the colour was important due to the dynamic instability of certain colour blocks which interfere with the gravitational interface and resonance properties?

Whilst this wasn't a problem with older style skis the modern multi compound and multi torsion construction means that certain of the colour combinations intefere with the dynamic camber properties.

Isn't this true?

This explains why test skis that companies produce are always white - inherently the colour of choice to minimise any conflict and allow a "true" ski.

And also why the turquoise of the ancient Rossignol 4S has been resurrected by Salomon in the BBR (not possible before the merger of these two companies as Rossignol held the patent for this colour).

You then need to bring in the style of the skier and link this to the colour of the ski. Now, I am happy to admit that this isn't an exact science, more of an art, but something that even the relative novice can get their head around.

It cannot be coincidence that my favourite ski of the 1980's was the old Rossi 4S and of this decade the BBR - both turquoise!

Sorry to go all techy again. As I understand the use of tip and tail rocker in high performance skis, the rocker and camber must be designed to work with the flex and side cut. Simply adding some tip rocker might make the ski easier to initiate turns for a back seat skier, but it doesn't do much for edge hold in very dynamic carving. Unless Elan have asymmetric flex and sidecuts, I don't see the point. Smells pretty high on the gimmick scale to me, but who knows?
because I'm so inclined .....

Some years ago I had a pair of dynastar 8.1 omegas which were much thicker on the inside edge and pretty horrible if you tried them the wrong way round. Seem to remember my x screams were left and right but think it was just the shape of the plastic tip. Just to even up wear I tend to swap my skis left to right.

Last season Head and Atomic SL skis went back to a asymmetric tip.

I don't know about left and right, but I think those double ended skis should be labelled front and back so that I don't keep trying to put them on backwards
