We have just booked Zell Am See for 11th-18th March 2023 and was wondering if there were folk out there that could advise on how the resort and area has fared at this time over the past few years.
My chum and I used to always go in late season - tail end of March & even early April - and were very rarely troubled with a lack of snow. Mind you, we generally did head for a destination that had a fair degree of altitude just in case. The more recent years though have been late January and February trips so that snow worries weren't really an issue and I haven't kept myself appraised of the trend of late season snow conditions in Europe for the past few years.
Anyhoo, I hope someone will be able to share some experience.

We have skied in nearby Lofer for many years and regularly had a day in Zell. You have a nice town and lake but then the City Express up to the slopes. You also have the glacier at Kaprun nearby. Snow is part of nature and nothing is guaranteed these days. Have a good time.
Rather a bad day on the slopes than a good day in the office!

Skied there a few years ago around that time. The snow around Zell was fairly soft and not great especially later in the day or on south-facing slopes. However, it is a fairly short hop to the glacier in Kaprun where you should be guaranteed good conditions. Zell is a lovely town so I am sure you will enjoy your trip.

While not trying to sound like a smart arse…every years is different. If you are genuinely worried about skiing in a low resort in March just book a higher resort.
The one thing that I've learned in the last 20 years of skiing is this, stop worrying about snow. You may end up skiing powder for the week or the slopes might also be bare. Either way it's a dam sight better than being at work.

When in doubt?....Flat out.
