Hi, i have just booked flights to geneva for the 5th to the 9th of april.
I was thinking of going to chamonix, but i am unsure if there will be much snow.
Does anyone know if there will be snow, or any resorts within 1.5 hours of geneva likely to have some?
Thanks
chris

I would say the higher the resort the better. What about avoriaz? 1,800 metres at resort level. Surely theat would be a good bet!?!

There more than likely wont be snow in the Chamonix valley, but as most of its skiing is above 1800m it should be fine, even in April.

Hi Chris
If you don't mind me asking, how much did you get your flights to Geneva for? I priced them a couple of days ago with Easy Jet for end March/start April and it worked out about £270!! Helen

Bennyboy is spot on, with his comments ... the vast majority of the ski areas on Chamonix Valley are high, so you shouldn't have any problems finding snow in April. Generally there are decent levels of snow at the time of year, and the biggest issue is that the more south facing ski areas can get a bit soft as the day wears on at that time of year.
In fact, in the last few years, there has been a decent amount of fresh snowfall in April ... even down to the valley floor. And last season, the skiing wasnt bad all the way into May!!
But the weather this year has been so weird, who knows what's going to happen. So wherever you decide to go, I would definitely recommend you don't take any risks and go high!!

hi skigirl, my flights cost £345 for two people, leaving from edinburgh to geneva direct. Was your cost £270 each, as that seems like quite alot. It also depends on where you are flying from.
thanks
