The only thing I would mention regarding La Thuile is the runs back to resort can be a tad difficult for beginners, you have a couple of options a very steep black/red and I mean steep, or a snow covered what is a mountain road which is I think is blue but very narrow and can get congested, the other option a run back to the village via petit st bernard which is very flat and requires an awful lot of poling.
But at the top there is some loverly beginner and intermediate skiing to be had and the option to return on the gondola.

I know about the home runs at La Thuile - the road ends up being a half pipe and the black was rather steep, icy and full of lunatic French teenagers (one of whom forgot to turn right at the bottom and ended up being caught in the netting)...

To be honest I think that La thuile black is the steepest that I have ever skied, I think I must have been very lucky that the snow cover was very good, it took me a good couple of minutes to build the bottle to go over the top, but I skied it with great panache although Mrs W ended up on her backside

I'm gonna second Dave Mac's suggestion. :D

If I ever have little happy eaters, that's where I'm taking them for the first few hols, for sure.
I wish I could meet the person who first decided to strap 2 planks to their feet and throw themselves down a mountain

The best place by far for beginners is Mongenevre,It's safe as they have a big cordoned off area just for starters. They also have a free belt ride for first timers both young and old.All the slopes are wide even the ones on top, which you could manage even after a few lessons.Fly into Turin and get a bus up it's only an 1.30 mins you can also find good deals for appartments in Jan
Hope this will help you

I think that is pretty standard for French resorts
