The main difficulty for the racers is the length of the run. Average race time approx 2mins 30secs. Not sure of the technical difficulties for the 'average' skier. Tino will have better info on that.
Have a look on TV next weekend it's Lauberhorn race day.

It's a fantatsic run, there is no doubt, maybe my favorite pisted run so far. The fact that it is nearly 5km long and Graded at Black makes it a little more daunting than it infact is.
Don't get me wrong as it is bloody steep in places, but the real steeps are the fairly short sections at the Hundschopf and the entrance to the grandstand (Zielschuss on the diagram linked below).

I would also add there are a few areas that are technically challenging bits like Canadian Corner which has vicious camber on it and the very narrow and kinked turn into the Hundschopf are "tricky" as is the final steep simply because by the time you get ther you are so tired.
The rest of it is simply an exceptional Red in my opinion. Seriously good fun, I was mightily impressed :D
So impressed I am heading down there on Friday to watch the race as my parents kindly got me 2 nights accomodation for Christmas 8)

I love this run - there are some sections you just have to put your head between your legs and kiss... but it's soo good. My record is about 5 minutes.
