Just wondered if anyone could help with a question along similar lines – whenever I’m out in the cold (skiing, riding etc.) the tops of my thighs/backside are absolutely frozen (to the point of looking blue!), but the rest of my body is fine. I normally wear thermals and salos (which are a decent thickness) but even then, it doesn’t do any good. I’ve even tried the more expensive thermals with marino wool, but to no avail.

Does anyone else have this problem and any ideas how to solve it? I thought about cycle shorts or maybe there are some even more ‘extreme’ thermals on the market that I could try? :D

Thanks

This was my problem explained earlier in the thread. Backside/thighs did'nt feel cold while I was outside, but it was when I got back and took outside gear off, those parts felt freezing to the touch, and stayed like it for a good 45mins after. Thank heavens for a roaring log fire. But I have decided to buy blokes boxers to wear under my thermals for next year. I even asked if I could pinch some of hubbies, his reply yes okay but I draw the line at wearing yours.

Sorry Rose – should read earlier posts properly! I’m exactly the same – don’t feel a thing when outside (though that may be because I’ve just gone numb!) but take forever to thaw out. Boxers isn’t a bad idea – might have to give that one a go!

Is there any particular brand that you can recommend? I’ve never seen any fleece thermals (all the ones I’ve come across have been polypropylene or polypropylene/wool blend), though I’ll admit I’ve not looked very hard! :D

Seriously though.. try some tight fitting heavier fleece thermals, they are so warm!
