The most important thing, in his opinion, is to keep the knees warm.

I certainly felt that to be the case after my meniscus tear was cut out (minor by comparison ofcourse). I would alway put a heat pad on my knee for 10 mins befor exercising and noticed that my knee felt stiffer and prone to irritation if I didn't.

I have a pair of Marmot ski pants that have a layer of foam over the knee area. On cold days my knees are much warmer in those pants, esp riding up the lift. It seems that just the knee cap needs the extra insulation as the combination of the pants material being pulled taught while sitting and the thin layer of flesh makes heat loss greater. So maybe you might want to stitch in a piece of foam in that area. It also make kneeling a lot more comfortable.

Anyway that's great news Caron.

Dave, I think that you speak for all of us, it's a wonderful result. What a site J2ski is. You talk to people that you have never met, but you feel you know them, and for people that have experienced injuries worse than our own, we feel for them.

Caron, this is sooo good. You have clearly worked hard, and deserve this bonus. Use it well. If you can manage to get to an easy ski resort, this will do so much for the confidence aspect, while also helping you to understand how well you have recovered.

I do understand the point that you make about feeling protected by the ski brace, and many people will take a view on this. We have a lady tennis player who says she could not play without the hinged brace. Yet I watch her hitching the brace up, as it slips a couple of inches, and I wonder how much good it is really doing, and how much is a psyschological crutch.

Brilliant, well done, but, keep doing the exercises. :-)

Fantastic news Caron . Well done .

Now go and enjoy yourself .

I wonder whether a simple neoprene knee support (the type you can pick up in any pharmacy) would be of any help - I used one for one or two trips and found it pretty good (though in my case, I was just dealing with creaky knees, not recovering from a major operation .) It strikes me that it might do the job that Trencher has in mind.

Take up MONOSKIING.

The lateral pressures are shared by both legs as they are always together.
