We, as 2 families, numbering 8 in total, have just come back from Niederau. We stayed at Pension Margit, excellent value for money(Hi Steve, Diane and Heather), and we flew to Innsbruck with Easyjet. We used Four Seasons Travel for the return transfer, which worked out at about 265 euros return in an 8 seater minibus. Holiday total for a family of 4, including carparking at Bristol airport, flights, half board accommodation(did I mention it is great value for money), ski hire, lift pass, transfers and a lot of booze in Bobo's at the end of every day worked out at just under £3000. £750 a head is as cheap as I can get a good ski holiday.

Hi, we've done diy to Austria (St Anton) a couple of times, Direct flight to Zurich then the train to St Anton. Relatively painless as the Hotel picks you up from the Station.

Journey time on Train is 2:20 and those trains run like clockwork. :)
Finally went off Piste!

goppy wrote:thanks for the replies so far.Had looked at kaprun but wasn't sure about the transfers. One other option i found so far was hotel staffler in neiderau. They do transfers for about 60 euros each i think and its about 300 euros a week half board.

Hey Goppy, we did DIY to Niederau for our first holiday. we got the ferry from newcastle to norway and then drove down from imlujiedn (or whatever the name) to Niederau. It took well over 12 hours and I wouldnt recommned it lol. You say that you are going half term as you are teacher. I can tell you from first hand experience that when we went to Niederau during half term we experienced queues of at least20 minutes at the button lift and about half hour for a gondala. However, you could use it as a base if you wanted to go to other larger resorts. I think the skiwelt is close by so if it was really busy then you have other options. (PS, you do realise how tiny the resort is?)

Saffer. That is really interesting to hear. So it IS possible to get a cheaper holiday than the packages. How far in advance did yuo book the flights to get such a good figure?

Flew to Salzberg this year for 5 night trip to Flachau, great area.

£100 flight BA, transfer £40 return, £100 a night H/board & afternoon tea/cake 4star hotel with pool/spa, though you can adapt the hotel obviously!

Ski and lift passes are what they are!!!
