Hi,

I'm not sure if many of you have considered this as an option but I've tried both and while admittedly the standards aren't up to the major resorts in the Alps, the skiing can be really good fun and the prices are ludicrously cheap. Plus you get to see Krakow or Prague while you're there.

Anyone thinking of going to Zakopane to ski then be warned, the snow is very unpredictable, also advanced skiers will be very disappointed. Kasprowy Wierch and the lifts are often shut because of wind and transport around the resort is good but not really coordinated, I would not go there without hiring a car.

In addition it can get very crowded especially if the ski conditions are good.

Plus side it is cheap. My advice is if you want to see Krakow go and if there is snow then that is a bonus.

I go every year, it is where I learnt to ski, but i leave my skis at home and hire some if the snow is OK.
