We're going on the 4th Jan and I wondered if anyone had done the event of : the dinner at the high level hut followed by the 5 km toboggan back?

Not done it in Mairhofen, but night time tobogganing is usually great fun. Loved the one in Hinterglemm :)

Thanks
My husband is mildly disabled and doesn't want to steer it himself but I understand its kind of like a group toboggan? Never seen it - just wanted to check the safety aspect. Sounds great fun.

The one we had was a 2-person toboggan. Steering them could be a bit of a challenge, depending on how difficult the toboggan run is. The best thing is to call Thomson/Crystal, explain the situation and ask for their advice. Hope it helps

I will no doubt find out when we arrive.
Just trying to enthuse my nervous partner!

Never tried it in Mayrhofen, but I done it numerous times in Saalbach! Similar idea, piste basher ride to the top (either sitting in the basket attached to the front of the beast, or standing in the trailer behind) full dinner and plenty drinks, followed by a 5km toboggan ride back to the bottom.
I'd done it so many times because I was a rep - I myself as well as any guests who came with absolutely loved it, it's hilarious!
As for the safety, sure there are a lot of dark areas (our run had lights every so often and your eyes adapt anyway) .. Watch out for pile ups in these areas!

Of course! Some parts of the run in Saalbach were relatively flat and meant you had to walk a little bit to get going again on the nearest down-slope but so long as you carry enough speed before the flats, you should be alright! :D
Little tip.. Lying down on the toboggan instead of sitting upright makes you go faster.. also makes it more exciting! :D
