Hi
My other half is taking up skiing this year and quickly measuring her feet she is 21.5 mondo with 89mm last prob around 70 flex..

I've noticed that most ladies boots seem to start at around 22.5 mondo

Can anyone recommend some manufactures who do small boots for ladies??

Alternatively I have thought about kids boots but I'm assuming they would prob not be correct for an adult ( anatomically weight flex & cuff etc) ??

Thoughts appreciated
Thank u :-)

Women's sized boots usually start at size 22, but because there are no half sizes the shells will probably be size 22.5. Some are even larger as some manufactures put a blocks in the toe boxes of larger boots to shorten them, which saves them the cost of a mold.

As your wife's feet are so small she really does need to see a good boot fitter if she wants boots that fit properly. The measurements you have given suggest that a junior racing boot might be her only option.

A junior boot might be a better bet as all the design, prototyping and testing of adult ski boots is done in size 26 / 26.5, after which a model is sent to a toolmaker who reverse engineers it and scales the design up and down to get the other sizes. As far as I know they don't take allometry (the change in size-related proportions due to growth) into account.

I have a friend who is seriously little - about 5'2" and three(ish) feet (UK)
I know she uses top of the range children's boots.
Could be worth a few minutes to phone a couple of your local shops and ask what the boot fitter would suggest - then choose where to go?

The toe and heel lugs on children's ski boot soles are smaller than the ones on adult boots so they aren't compatible with most adult bindings.

The problem with many small-sized boots is that they are not small at all, i.e. even when they have size 22, the BSL will be the same as for the size 23-23.5 of the same boot. There is a chart I found on line, it's not complete, but at least it gives you an idea what to avoid because I don't think you can find a bootfitter able to work on a boot which is not .5 but 2 actual sizes bigger than needed. http://www.evo.com/ski-boot-sole-length-bsl-size-chart.aspx
Junior race boots is probably your best bet, but research bindings compatibility. I knew someone skiing in Technica Race Jr. and the bindings were Rossi Axial, normal model. They will be stiff though, but stiffness is secondary, fit is more important. In any case find a good bootfitter who would know what's in the market at present.
