After years of renting I have just bought my first pair of skis, a set of Fat All-Mountain Twin Tips. I am wondering what sort of bindings I need to get. Do they have to be the same make as the skis and if my skis are 98mm in mid-width what size of bindings do I need to get? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

it all depends on what your budget is and what type of skier you are...do you need a binding with a higher din range for jumping off the tops of mountains..you can pay anything from about £ 75 to £200 and can be any make, have a look at this site http://buy-ski.glisshop.co.uk/ski-bindings/alpine/...i did but you have to get them fitted when they arrive...so I did my research and ended up getting a good deal for Tyrolia bindings with a 110 mm brake from Ellis Brigham who fitted them for me for free while I waited..

I have a pair of Storm Blast Skis, 98mm Wide. What size of Bindings should I get? and do they need to be Storm Bindings? I will not be jumping from any mountains but I am fairly heavy and like to push myself so a fairly high DIN setting would be needed.

You need bindings with DIN going up to 12 or 14. 100 mm brakes should be enough, but 110 will work too. Brand is less important. I heard people complaining about Markers but personally never had any issues with them.

What about 115 mm brakes, would these be too big? That Storm ones go from 97mm to 115mm with nothing in between. With my skis being 98mm what would be best?

You can mount (if you know what you're doing and have the right tools) or have mounted (if the shop has a mounting jig for the binding) any binding that has brakes that are wide enough to clear the skis.
As VBS said 100mm should be fine, and 110 would be OK, but 115mm is a bit too wide (over wide brakes tend to drag in the snow if you put the skis on edge) you should be able to get away with the 97mm brakes as they are supposed to fit skis up to 99mm. If they catch you can always bend the arms out a bit.
Storm didn't make any bindings, the ones Storm sold are re-badged Tyrolia bindings. I don't think they are very popular in the UK, before buying them I would find a shop that had the correct jig.

Ok thanks everyone for your help. Can anyone recommend a pair of bindings for my skis? I do not want to spend a fortune but obviously want a decent pair.
Thanks

after doing my research last season I bought tyrolia peak 12 from Ellis Brigham...don't know whether they are still available as their site seems down ..but you have to remember that you have to have them fitted by someone..as I said before you have to figure out your budget and some bindings can cost twice as much as the Storm skis
