Saalbach 2013 January and Febuary

Hi im a Norwegian guy seeking ski bum people in Saalbach. Im going to be there for 2 months aproximatly.
Now im seeking people who are doing the same and also people who have done this before that can tell me theire story about saalbach.

I have questions like what seasonpass is good, where is a nice central place to live thats not to expensive, how you decided to travel like with or without people, did you get in contact with people before the trip, and so on.

You seem to have your finger on the pulse mate.
We are a mature group that have for the last 8 years skied Schladming and Soll. In Soll in recent years the ski hire equipment was so good and so reasonable that many did not even bother to take their own skis. I appreciate Saalbach is a more expensive resort but on viewing prices on the net they are double what we were paying last year. We ares staying at Berger Sports Hotel end of January. Any suggestions where we might try which is local to hotel, quality but hopefully not going to fleece us. There will be at least 7 min hiring skis so they will earn a quid or 2!!

It would appear we have our ski hire sorted. Feel free anyone to suggest must do slopes. We are a group that cope with most things but I think its fair to say a number of us tend to survive the harder steep black runs as opposed to skiing them properly.
Like an Apres bar which is busy but not necessarily mobbed with live music any suggestions? Just trying to work out beer voucher supply, we have been fortunate in Soll the last 3 years to be paying E3.20 to E 3.80 for a large beer, appreciate it will be dearer in Saalbach but hope we are not talking silly prices!!

Cheeky schnapps or two at the top of main Bernkogel lift then blast down just as they close the piste for grooming is always fun.

Well girlfriend and I are going to Hinterglemm (which is next door to Saalbach I believe) on 2nd Feb and we have been told to try the Goasstall bar for some lively apres! We are in our 40s and the bar does look very lively. If anyone been then let us know what Hinterglemm like. Girlfriends first taste of skiing! Fingers crossed. Staying at the Kwanserai as didn't feel roughing it first time would be sensible!!

You are correct, hinterglemm is a few miles up the valley from Saalbach. (10-15 euros in a taxi) Easily lniked when on skis, whole areas is very accessable and well suited to new starters. Once you girlfrined is upright with a bit of confidence - take them up the Zwolfer and stay on the nice Big Foot blue run all the way back down, nice steady and easy run for beginneers.
As for the Goatbar - this is problably the best bit of apres ski I've ever come across. Truly unique, one of those place the first time you go in you wonder whats happening, the second time you relax and go with it and from that point on its addictive and a 4pm beer in the Goat becomes routine!! By 6pm it bouncing and just sitting and watching people ski the last 100 yards to the bottom of the slope is true entertainment! I love the place, going back this January for a couple of weeks, this will be week 15&16 in resort!

Can't wait...thanks for advice on the blue run and the Goat bar (think we will be walking there rather than risk the 6pm ski!!)
