Hi

Looking at Soll for a DIY trip in December, hotel booked just waiting for flights to go on sale.

I automatically assumed Innsbruck as it was the nearest airport but some ski brochures fly into Salzburg from Soll. Am I missing something or is it possibly because Salzburg serves a bigger area for their multiple package holidays?

Thanks

I would just go with whatever you can get the cheapest flights to. Innsbruck is more prone to closure/delays in bad weather due to it's location-it's quite a spectacular landing though!! I'd say Salz you're looking at 1hr 45mins to 2hrs Innsbruck 1hr 15mins to 1.5 hrs.

Both are small airports with not allot in the arrivals/departure areas.

Edited to add. When in December are you looking? Providing it's cold enough the snow making is extensive but I bet allot of people were getting worried (not just in Soll/Austria) until the huge dumps we had last December.

Thanks Grizwald

New Year so 30/12 - Soll is low but I'm hoping as its only for a 4 night break and I don't ski that a) husband and kids will be thrilled with the suprise and b) it's 15yrs since I've been to Soll but I do remember it being pretty and nice for non skiers with good après ski!

Daisy,
We had a great New Year, based in the next village up from Soll. Munich is also a good alternative, you can get a train direct from the airport to Kufstein. Then a taxi,or maybe an hotel bus?

Salz or Munich is better.
Innsbruck is my favourite airport in the world though, spectacular flight in and out. But as has been said, can close in bad weather, unless you fly Austrian Airlines as they take off in anything.

Stick with Innsbruck if you don't want a luggage trolley
