This huge slide measuring 200m long and 60m wide took place at 3pm today. There is a large search operation underway, as 2 skiers were seen at the site before it happened, despite many warnings about the risk from wet snow slides in the Bulletin's.
There is a slideshow showing the scale of the Avalanche on the website of 20minutes.ch

Hope there was no one actually involved.
Bandit, I noticed this on the one you posted the other day as well, but do you think linking to "Slideshows" is a good thing for an avalanche.

The trees in this shot give some indication of the depth... that's a lot of snow.

The search was called off at 8.30 last night, no-one was found. There is an appeal for information from the Police.

Conflicting Evidence
According to witnesses, the skiers were swept away by the snow. Another witness, interviewed later, which was 200 meters away from the casting and has been observed at the outset, however, did not notice the presence of skiers, police said.
Research by electronics detection remained negative, as surveys conducted by the rescuers and search with avalanche dogs.
The research was conducted using two helicopters under a mandate from the REGA, 150 rescuers, eleven avalanche dog handlers and nine policemen in the region.
The eventual resumption of research will be a new appreciation Thursday morning. The police called other potential witnesses to come forward at 021 644 44 44, as well as those who would be no news of family members visiting the ski resort of Les Diablerets.

Lets hope no-one got injured. With this ridioculous weather we seem to be getting there will be more slides like that. Too warm for snow to stay on slopes.
