Hi I plan to try skiing in Italy I will fly into Milan Malpensa 13th-15th jan with my husband and 2 children (aged 3 and 6 years old) Could someon advise where to actually go where we can try skiing for beginners and expecially things like toboggan, sledgeing etc for the kids and good italian food as I dont have a clue where to stay or how far places are with snow from the airport. Will I have to travel for hours from the airport to get to the ski resorts Many thanks but being a newbie I really am clueless

You could try Sauze which is an hour away. Away from PC at mo but there is a good Facebook page and a sauzeonline web page run by a Brit with all the nec info.

Cervinia is great for kids and a good snow record. Can provide details of someone who can arrange an apartment and a great ski coach who speaks perfect english

I was in Cervinia for New year!! the Skiing there was amazing and I would return again, saying that I am off to Sauze at the end of the month but they haven't had the snow that Cevinia has had, if you go to Cervinia you must ski the Zermatt side ofthe Matterhorn.
