Happy New Year to everyone.
I fancy a new gadget for this year, but don't know if what I want actually exists!
I'd like to be able to see the following:
- speed: average and maximum
- distance travelled
- vertical
Plus also (maybe) download where I've skiied when I get home and overlay to a map e.g. google earth.
I'm sure a very expensive GPS device would do this and much more. But is there anything a bit cheaper on the market that would just give me the basics? NB I definitely do not take a laptop on holiday with me!
Would be great if anyone could suggest some kit.
Thanks

I tend to use phone apps. I would debate how accurate they are though as my friends claimed he was tracked doing 40mph down a green run in tignes last season and he couldn't drive at 40mph let along ski at that speed.

you would be surprised at the speeds you go at! The speedo on my phone powered by GPS is accurate when driving so I am sure it will show that I am doing 10mph on piste!
Why cant your friend drive at 40mph? Does he get scared?

Scared no, useless yes. This is a guy that went on his first ski holiday with me last year and fell off the chair lift (at the bottom) twice. He actually got sat on the chair between me and another mate then two seconds later he had gone, luckily we were only about 5ft in the air. I don't know how he did it but by god it was funny, even the lift guy was bent double laughing along with everyone else in the line. Still makes me chuckle when I think about it now
