When i bought my skis they came flat pact with plastic loops that help the brakes up so they could be flat packed side by side.
I have also seen these retainers used to keep the brakes out of the way when performing maintenance (edging).

I used them when transporting them on my recent holiday as it let them lay flat in my ski bag.

Is there and reason i cannot leave these on in storage? It is better for me to be able to store them flat.

If thats it for the season ideally you should release all bindings and wax skis leaving the wax on to protect them from any damp, the brake should not be retained for long periods

Merry,,skier !

You should NEVER ski with these elastics on the brakes! You should always take these elastics off when skiing.

As far as using them to store skis,,,no problem,,but then have a velcro strap to hold skis together!

Why ?

You want the skis to be base to base with some form of "retainer" so skis will not fall apart,,thus dull edges( I assume you want sharp edges) !

You will notice that brakes hold skis together while not skiing! Velcro straps are better!

Yes you can store them with straps !

One small hint about these brakes! 99% of skiers never,,but never place a drop of lithium grease on the brake arms UNDER the plastic housing! You never want your brakes to "jam" due to friction or wear ! White lithium grease is so cheap and so useful for such matters!

One drop will save you many problems!
