Have done Mayrhofen at Christamas 3 years ago. Really enjoyed it. Numerous drinking holes to choose from. The Austrian resorts will be very very busy on New Years Eve. Great skiing but you have to gondalla up and down the main mountain so be prepared to queue at these times.

the best bars are scotland yard and the sports bar in the strass hotel. last year the was a singer in the sports bar who was very good and he was there 9 years ago when i first went . also there is a bar on the right as you walk up the main street that was good . dont know the name but it was tooked away down the side of a building and quite hard to spot. they had a happy hour from 8.30 - 10pm $2 a beer. also mo`s is ok.

The pilz bar at the top of the penken is good for a couple of sherberts just before the last lift down to the Ice bar. there is also a smashing little sandwich bar across from the penken lift on the main road that does cheap food if your hungry.been to MH the past 3 years and going again in March enjoy it !!!!!

2nd that re the butchers for a lovely cheap sandwich. Roasted meats carved up and slammed into a roll. Deeelish.
Next door is the cute little Happy End bar, always busy and good for chat after a days skiing, run by the legend that is Uli Spiess.
