Has any j2skier stayed in Zug a small hamlet approx 2km outside Lech. It has one chair that takes you upto the Lech ski area. I ask, because we will be based there for a week in January and I gather although you can access the mountain via the chair, there are only two ski routes down into Zug. One classed as extreme and the other a red ski route with mixed reports on the viability of the decent into Zug. I have been told the ski bus from Lech to Zug is reliable and good.

Any information would be much appreciated.

Hello Alistair - we haven't stayed in Zug itself but in Lech and have skied down to Zug as part of the Weisse Ring. The red ski route down to Zug is not exactly my favourite run I have to say -part of it is an uphill slog and by the time I reach the chairlift down in Zug all I want is a hot drink! Fortunately, there is an excellent cafe at the top of the chair.
The local buses have always been reliable when we have used them.
One of our favourite lunchtime stops was the terrace of the Burgwald Hotel on a blue run in Oberlech, but the standard of service and food is generally very good anywhere in the Lech area.

Hi Janet,

Thanks for the info, we must have similar tastes when it comes to skiing  I am not so concerned about the boys and myself however, the OH is a bit timid and I think the bus sounds the best bet and perhaps we can take it in turns to ski/bus back to Zug. Thanks for the tip on the Burgwald, we will give them go. :D

Did you enjoy Lech and the white ring?

Thanks
Alistair :D

We really enjoy the Lech area and one of my favourite runs is part of the Weisse Ring. At the top of the Rufikopf cable car is a long cruisey blue (down to a T-bar), off which are fantastic views. I would say you should ski the ring at least once while you are there just to say you have done it!
Above Lech/Oberlech, my favourite run is red 35 off the Rotschrofen chair which is best skied fast and straight onto the chairlift for another blast :D
Another cruisey blue worth doing is blue 8 from St. Anton down to St. Christoph so you can sit on the sun terrace of the Hospizalm for a drink and then use their 'facilities' where you will find either steps or an alternative method of descent! (I will leave you to find out what that is)
Enjoy :D
