Hi all,
this is my first post on your forum so be gentle.
Have just booked a week in La Plagne with my wife. We fly out on Saturday & don't have the time to buy ski helmets before we go.
We've decided that we will use helmets, but, and here's the conundrum, should we hire them or buy them from the resort.
I don't want to be ripped off & I don't want to hire a useless helmet. Does anyone know of a respectable & recommended shop in La Plagne, if so, any particular make of helmet to go for or avoid.
Thanks for your time & sorry to bore you,
in anticipation,

Slime.

( nice name by the way!!); stick with a known brand & you wont go wrong ( doubt you will find something 'cheap' anyway). Giro, Smith,Uvex should all be available & am sure you will find one to fit.
Rentals will be fine but are you okay with wearing a 'rental' helmet? ( if yes, go that route as it will be cheaper).

Thanks for the fast reply frostbite,
would prefer to buy, don't like the thought of someone else's sweaty helmet on my sweaty head!!
Any chain of shops you could recommend in La Plagne?
Many thanks,

Slime.

Helmet Rental. Most hire shops now have in place a disinfection system (one sort or another) for their hire lids. Used between rentals, it cuts down on the Eeeuuuww for new renters

Just in case you see the helmet prices in resort and go

Haven't been to la Plagne so would'nt be able to advise specifically BUT I,m sure any 'intersport, Sport 2000 or other rental/retail outlet in resort will have a selection; Dont be afraid to offer less than 'ticket' price as they are usually prepared to do a deal ( go for 20-25-30% off initially & you may get 15-20% off).

Thanks mate,
may well investigate the Intersport/Sport 2000 route.
If that's my chosen option, I'll report back if that would be of any use.
Thanks again,

Slime.

If you are staying in Plagne Centre, there is (or used to be) a large shopping mall where you should find something.
