I am thinking of buying my first pair of skis and have been recommended the ladies Head 'Cool Thang' as a good first ski. As I have never bought skis before I am unsure about what length to go for. I am 5'9" and 9st 2 and have been on 4 skiing holidays and lots of tuition so can ski most red runs fairly confidently. I am skiing again for 2 weeks in Dec and want some skis that I can progress to a decent level with. Any advice?? ?!

Hi
Try the ladies rossignol Z5W. They are designed just for ladies and are great for your standard. My advise is rent them in resort, and then buy them after a few days. Most ski shops will then take off the rental when you buy them. If they dont suit you try some other ladies skis and see what your first impression is. Take the skis to the level of your chin. Dont buy them in the uk as if you dont get on with them then it is a long way to wait until you get home.
Continue with your lessons and maybe take a private lesson or 2 with your new skis and tell the teacher so they can help you get the best out of them.
Best wishes

Nigel's advice is right on the money!
Demo several skis before buying! Skis do have specific personalities ( like men) and you have to be comfortable with the skis you buy. As far as length may I recommend 165 cm.
Take lessons righ away after you buy skis so that you learn how to use them more effectively!
Ps
Small reminder! This is the worst time to buy skis can you wait till March.....
