Hi,

Could you recommend a DIY ski base repair kit?

My otherwise very good condition new Dynastar skis got a small area damage caused by a stone while coming down a WC run in Saalbach this January.

I thought I can perhaps repair it myself before my next trip :?:

Many thanks

Sorry just seen this post. You can get 3 x black or clear Petex sticks and a metal scraper from Datawax.com for £4.20. This should help repair the damage. They also do a repair kit including edge tool and wax however, this comes in at £35.

Hope this helps.

Your very welcome, hope it helps. I love petexing and once you get the knack, you will to. Be careful though, you will suffer a world of pain if you splash just one drop on you

Wish I has seen this post earlier!

If you can,,,do not use Ptex CANDLE. Much better is Ptex spaggetti ! What is this! It is exactly like the spaggetti you eat but make from Ptex material. Does not cause smoke, black residue and can be used with propane torch.

Less work. cleaner and cheaper!

The P-tex spaghetti Pavelski mentioned is also known a P-tex repair string or wire, at 3mm it's a bit thicker than spaghetti. It's actually high molecular weight polyethylene (HMWPE) welding rod intended for use in the plastic fabrication industry http://www.drader.com/injectiweld-products/welding-rod/stock-welding-rod You can get it from http://www.snowrepublic.co.uk/Tools/Base-Repair/Snoli-Surface-Repair-Wire
