You might wnat to try the nearby ski area of Monterosa which is great for boarders and is 2.5 times the size of Courmayeur. Aim for the resort of Cahmpoluc which is the closest to Courmayeur.

I have worked in Pila. It is a good resort but could be limiting if you are a good intermediate / advanced skier? If you are looking for a bigger ski area youi could try nearby La Thuile or the Monterosa ski area (which includse the resorts of Champoluc, Gressoney and Alagna).

You may want to try the high level resort of Champoluc in north west Italy - just 90 minutes from Turin and part of the Monterosa ski area. They normally have good snow at New Year
