I run a catered chalet and our guests have regularly remarked the price difference is not as great as it initiall seems once you include all the extras you have to pay for self-catered, airport transfers/meals out/wine/etc.
Here's a write up I did for my website http://www.absolutealps.com/catered-ski-chalet.htm Regards, Adam |
Personnally I always wear contacts with goggles without any problems, the few times I've forgotten and worn my glasses I've found it quite uncomfortable.

Forecast is to stay cold and keep snowing for the next 7 days at least.
I'd say the high resorts with glaciers should be fine in early December |
I'd say buy in resort.
There will be several shops to choose from, probably they will have some test boots which you can hire then if you like them swap them for some shiny new ones, possibly even get the cost of the hire knocked of the price of the boots. Any problems you have you can just pop back to the shop, not any option if you buy in the UK. You cann't really tell if they're going to cause you trouble used you ski in the them, walking about the house isn't going tell you. |
After a very successful first season last year, we now have 2 catered ski chalet's in Chatel.
Both offering top quality service including jacuzzi, real log fire, 4 course evening meals, airport transfers, in resort shuttle, satelite TV. Book now for 10% early booking discount www.AbsoluteAlps.com |
We've had a very wet summer in the Alps as in the UK.
As oppose to last winter when it was mainly blue skies and sunny. If we keep this level of precipitation for the winter it'll definatly be the best winter for a long time. We did have some snow on the mountain tops last week |
if your feet start to hurt then they are too tight !
often slack buckles can come undone while your skiing as the boots warm up a little and become more flexible, especailly in deep snow which can become packeted under the buckles if you feel your feet moving in the boot it should be a buckled tighter |
definatly get rid of any 10 year old boots that hurt.
It's worth considering renting in the resort, most shops are very helpful and knowledgeable. The big bonus is you'll be able to take the boots back everyday and ask for a different pair if they keep hurting you. Different brands fit different people. Many shops will have test boots if you say you are thinking of buying, to try before you buy. |
