These aren't the resorts you're looking for... 8)

It does seem that the outrageous habit of charging to use a poorly maintained loo is rather too common in the big resorts; don't recall being charged in Les Arcs though, or Les Deux Alpes.

I'm with Wickers; never encountered it at all in the more "French" resorts.

As a matter of fact,
Having the ladies toilets locked in Tignes annoyed me a lot more than having to pay the 40 cents they charge during the season.

Tignes is the only resort I've been to so far where you have to pay to use the toilet. They told me that it is because the toilet belongs to the restaurant, not to the resort. We have had free toilets in Bulgaria, Austria, Val Thorens (in the sports and shopping centre), and La Rosiere (in one of the restaurants).

In the UK I have paid to go to the toilet in Paddington train station - where they have those high tech toilets which are so confusing.

The worst problem about having to pay is when you're busting for a pee and don't have any money on you.

I've never had a problem having to pay to use the loo, some mountain restaurants charge some don't. Most are voluntary, so I pay if they are clean and I don't if they're not.
Most lift stations have a free loo, make the most of them.
As for beer prices, what I really object to is that most of it is awful Euro fizz, 8 Euros for a half litre of that is outrageous. A small beer with lunch and a couple after skiing is enough for me, then it's supermarket beers and at dinner, I make the most of the unlimited wine (which is included in the price of our trips), followed by the obligatory bottle of port from the supermarket.

I must agree that in Les Arcs last year I did the supermarket beer with dinner in the chalet.
I am not a wine drinker so I have to cater for myself in the alcohol department.
I dont have an issue with paying 8euros for a beer (although it is expensive I agree) as long as it is a decent pint.
I had a couple of beers in Les Arcs last year which were taken back and told to change as they we flat and rank.

Anyway, we will see what will be in ADH... just wish it was next week not in two months.

I think at any price if it is not up to scratch then take it back ........ even if you have to Q ...... it's just a matter of principal

Now you're talking. I visited the Norwich Beer Fesival 4 times last week, if only those beers were available in the mountains!

Andy, they would not know how to keep them, but it is a nice thought :D

I used to visit the beer fest' in Norwich but there was always so much cr*p about plus a lot of 7% abv beers which were always far too strong for me
