Which one to choose? We are intermediate skiers on a budget and thinking of going on 8/9th Jan 11. Is La Rosiere more snowsure @1850 m? Any pros and cons re both resorts very much appreciated.
Has anyone been in Pension Aloisia (Scheff) and chalet Quatre Saisons (La Ros)? Any suggestions will help as we have no idea of both areas and the accomodation.

Some friends of mine always stay in the chalet Les Quatre Saisons and reckon it's excellent. It is some way below the main resort, but quite close to the bus stop for the free ski bus that takes you to the slopes.

We have also been to La Rosiere ourselves but we didn't like it much because it has a great number of drag lifts, unless you go across to the linked Italian resort of La Thuile and the problem with this is that quite often the link closes due to bad weather.

One of the good things about La Rosiere is that it doesn't seem to get as crowded as some of the more popular resorts. And it does seem to have a pretty good snow record.

Agreed, Austria is the winner. Much friendlier and only £3 for a beer instead of £8.

Scheffau is a pretty little Tyrolean village. It's very quiet so if you want a rave up then not the best. The skiing is great with 300km of interconnected piste.

I've been to the Skiwelt for 4 years in a row now and never had a problem with the snow. It has a unique micro climate due to some geological science I can't remember.

Skiied at both, and would choose Scheffau, both for skiing and cost. Skiing on the Schiwelt is 1600 to 1850m.

Thanks, guys. I will book Scheffau. Just another question: are the different areas in the Skiwelt interconnected or one should take a ski bus from Scheffau in order to explore the other villages' slopes? The Skiwelt lift system looks very good to me; are there long queues?
