I think as we get older our sense of fear greatly increases, which is why kids whizz by because they simply don't have that fear yet.
Its not a bad thing, it keeps us safe, especially as we age and our bodies do not heal as quick. I suppose what we need to do is trust our own ability and have faith in that to keep us from harm.

Skied: Arinsal, La Plagne, Alpe D'huez, Flaine, Les Arcs, Morzine, Les Gets, Avoriaz, Sauze, Courchevel, Val Thorens

Its because we know how much falling over will hurt, kids don't. Plus they bounce better then we do

Believe me, I have had many falls over the years, but I think I've got to a level now which is good enough to combat almost anything, within reason, and I dont find I fall over at all except maybe in the deep stuff which I am still getting to grips with.
The point was made about not falling over means not pushing yourself: I'd go along with that. I used to push myself, probably too hard, and was always falling over. IN my early years, my mate and regular ski buddy Skidaddle used to get seriously p****d off with me always falling over, but it was because he was so damned good and I wanted to keep up with him and ski what he skied that I kept on going, kept on falling, and eventually managed to be able to ski what he skis and dont fall over any more. Except the odd stupid one at the end of a run when you just, literally, fall over!!!

Oh, and off bar stools sometimes as well.

Agreed Tony, I don't tend to fall over that much anymore as I have reached a level where I am capable of control in most situations. The next step for me is the park which I have started in and believe me I now fall a lot. But managed to get little 360's on lockdown, I'm to scared to go any bigger.

I was heading for a my 1st fall-free ski week......until yesterday evening when I decided to tackle The Face in Val at 4.30pm. I skiied down to the main slope, looked down, gathered my wits, skied about 5 metres, fell over and then slid another 5m on my side. The heavy perspiration started at that point (with 10m covered and 890m to go)

Got down without falling again but was ready for a beer at the bottom!!
slippy slidey snow......me likey!

I don't post that often but am a constant visitor to the site. Its good to know there are others out there who also check webcams at least once a day, snow forecast, J2 Ski etc. None of my friends or husband ski and don't understand how over the top excited I get about going a ski holiday. Also enjoy reading the banter so keep it up people :) Ria x
