Hi everyone,
Advice please, just came back from Flaine yesterday, my friends who booked the holiday have just recieved an e-mail from the apartments saying that they have took 60 euro from the 200 euro deposit, the reason for this as they state "Because the cleaning was not ok" We left the apartment very tidy (as we found it), hoovered, put dishes away, nothing broken etc, left unopened bottles and food that was left over on Kitchen worktop. What a bummer after a great holiday.
John.

Difficult one,why didn't you collect your deposit on leaving the apartment,or cancelling it if it was done by credit card?

Just a thought, did you smoke in apartment. Some places say that although a place looks clean and tidy if you have smoked in it then the whole apartment needs a deep clean to get rid of smell. The accomodation we stayed at in Finland would have charged us a fortune if we had smoked inside.
I'm a laydee

John, sadly it sounds like youve been had. Ive heard of this before nothing to do with ski hols just unscrupulous (not sure of spelling ) operators. And the reason why I will never holiday in France !!! > I know it can happen anywhere but my personal view of the French has just been justified by you.Sorry if its controversial but its my opinion.put simply I just dont like them !!!!!

Hi
Micric- My friends card was swiped at beginning of hols at reception desk, If I understand correctly nothing was taken from account at that stage, they just had card details. The assumption being that if anything was wrong with room at end of stay, they would take some of deposit etc. We also had to do the same with ski hire.
Broom- We are going to ask for so called problems to be Itemised.
Rose R- We managed to kick the habit years ago, so no smokers.
Thanks for replies.

just reminded me, at beginning of week the rooms were not ready for three hours, we were told to take cases into store room, where a gentleman took 8euro from us to store them, yes unscrupulous does come to mind, this was not a deposit.

Interesting little scam they have going because they still have your card details on file,to use after you have left the country let alone the property, inform your card issuer forthwith for guidance. In the good old days they swiped your card which produced a tissue and carbon copy, which you signed and they held on file,at the end of your stay they gave you it back, assuming you haven't lifted the tele, you tore it up and left it with them, how you get round that electronically needs looking at.
