Boot liners compressed!! can I wash them?

You are a legend!! I might even try that..nothing to lose! its hard doing a season without any capital..I have my liftpass and food and board but spare cash is a joke!! However I am skiing loads and progressing fast!! getting much quicker on my feet with tight little turns and hopping about on moguls so I am noticing my feet moving a bit in my boots, thank you everyone for your input..I may have a solution in the offing..I have been sending all my chalet guests to the same hire shop in town so I may drop in and have a chat with the owner......if not its footbeds or out with the stanley knife!!

Washing ski boot liners won't make them fit better. It can be done, but it's not recommended. As Bandit said you have probably outgrown them and they are very soft. In all probability they will also be too big – take the liner out, slide your bare foot in the shell until your toes just touch the end of the boot if there is more than 20mm between your heel and the back of the shell they are much too big and it would be much better to get a new pair.

However as you are strapped for cash there are a few things you could try, such as replacing the stock foot bed with a thicker aftermarket one. http://www.superfeet.com/ make them in various thicknesses. Place something between the boot board and the liner to reduce the volume (take the boot board out and draw round it), boot fitters use something called Bontex (dense cardboard will also do) start off with something about 3mm thick. Alternatively you could buy a packet of 'volume reducer' http://www.mbctechnical.com/products.html If your heels are lifting you could stick some foam pads onto the liner http://www.stopheellift.com/

When you can afford to buy new boots make sure you go to a good boot fitter and not to a boot shifter!

So Scapula you now have three options:-

1) Buy a new pair of boots
2) Buy some new footbeds
3) Find a stanley knife and a biro and get busy

Actually Em, only Scapula and I have complete retention of marbles on this one. The stated criteria eliminates your 1) and 2).
I can assure you that 3) worked for me, and lasted for a total of 4 seasons. For me, it is the nadir of commonsense ~ too much space in the boot ~ fill it. All the footbed criteria remains the same.
I accept it is not the ideal solution for one such as yourself, y'know pots of money........

No way 2) is still in the running! The only criteria was no new boots. New footbeds is not new boots. Ahaaaaaa! :lol:

I hope none of my holidaymakers decide to make Dave Mac footbeds and cut holes in the carpet under the beds :evil: :lol:

We only have his word that carpet tiles work - did anyone see him actually skiing on carpet tiles?

I will try a davemac/swingbeep hybrid ..carpet under the liner, on the grounds that it is free, reversible, and grounded on years of invaluable experience!!
