Car Rental for Andorra-Do we need Snow Chains?

Made almost exactly the trip that you're talking about (except we went all the way up to Pas de La Casa) in 2003

We hired from EasyRentACar (really on the cheap) and didn't bother with chains at the reccomendation of the English bloke who worked in the hire shop

No problems whatsoever going up or coming down as the roads are very well maintained

However a huge dump of snow meant that the car park we'd parked in was horrendous and we spent hours digging everyone else out before we could even start on our cars parked at the far end!

So the question may not be "do I need snow chains" but rather, as ricardoleiria suggests, "do I need to take the car at all"

We missed the flight by 24 hours so our cheap holiday wasn't as we had to pay EasyJet for one way tickets again - snow chains wouldnt have made any difference whatsoever!

If you go into the mountains in winter with no winter tyres or snow chains....... you need your head tested.

There is no better way to annoy the fine residents of this forum than by spamming them. My favorite useless bunch of losers masquerading as a business provides dodgy vehicles for rent at ludicrous prices and also offers disinterested and possibly violent after sales service.

I was going to say something similar - but back to the thread.
They keep the roads in Andorra clear but winter tyres are still needed.
However the bus service in Andorra is good when you are there and the links to the airports by bus are pretty good too.

The real question is "Do I need a car at all?" - Only if you are staying away from the resorts.
