Not true. Chantmerle is the only one I'd avoid stopping at as it is purpose built and a bit bleak, but the access is excellent from there.
Villeneuve is full of quaint buildings, cafes, bars and restaurants, and its got a lovely river flowing through it, and Monetier is a very pretty little place.
Briancon is the big town, and it not really a ski place, but its not ugly at all. In fact, part of it are a Unesco world heritage site. Or something.
Wickers hasn't been for a while - he seems to have forgotten what it's like.. )

Sorry old buddy but I beg to differ, granted there are a lot worse places, I take it that huge ugly black building is still hanging around the centre of Villeneuve, the old town is nice but most of the buildings around town are new and lack character and some are just downright ugly.

Thats not Villeneuve. Thats across the river in Le Bez and at the Centre Commercial, where the lifts go up from. The village itself is quaint and rustic, same as Monetier.
So, really only 1 of the 4 bases is the ugly one.

I think you will find the big black ugly building is in Pre long ........ Le Bez is further up the hill
thats if my poor old memory serves me right.

You might be right, but its not the village which really is pretty and rustic.

I think that nice old rustic village where there are some nice restaurants is La salle.

i have possible eaten in them but I can never remember the names, I always take a card but file it away some where safe, one I can remember was just over the bridge on the right, a nice rustic place, can't remember what I ate but it was very pleasant.
