Hi Sean, welcome to J2Ski.com :D

Did you know you'd fractured your radius at the time? I hope it healed okay.

I skied for half an hour with a paralysed right arm on the dry ski slope, after I'd fallen and broken my shoulder, but I didn't know it was broken until the next day when I went to the hospital for an X-ray. As I said earlier, it's perfectly possible to ski with only one arm. I managed by ditching my ski poles and using my good arm on the drag lift.

Back from the skiing and my son had no problems with his arm. He had a padded protection with velcro fastener around his wrist initially but dicarded that within a couple of days. The only problem he had was on the last day when he went out of control and hurt his ankle which put paid to us skiing together on the last day. It didn't really matter as I also had done the splits and hurt my groin. So many stories to tell around the fire in the pub this afternoon. Thank you for all your replies!!!

Hi Knapdog,
I'm glad you both had a good holiday, and the arm wasn't a problem :D

It's a pity you both hurt yourselves, and I hope they're minor injuries, but at least you only lost one day of ski-ing.

I'm sure you'll be back on the slopes as soon, and as often as you can - it's a highly addictive sport :D

Good on you both, i'm not sure I'd have made the same decision as a novice, but each to thier own :) saying that I snowboarded in Chile last summer two weeks after breaking my collarbone and fracturing my skull. Made me a much better snowboarder I can tell you!

Glad to hear you both got away and had a good time. I know that none of my sons would have cancelled their ski holiday if they were in the same position your son was in last week. In fact I wouldn't put it past them to still ski with their wrist in plaster!
