Stamford,
We are staying in Courchevel 1550 for Feb half-term. We've been to Val Thorens twice before, so we have actually skied through Courchevel before, but never stayed there.
There must be some decent people in Courchevel - after all, we're going there :D
I'm looking forward to your photos, thanks very much,
Ally

Every1 to there own i suppose. Ive been to Meribel and didnt like it, then just been to Les Menuire and had a great time. The best skiing in Europe up to now for me has been Arabba. A beautiful place, cheap (compared to 3v) friendly people, lift system excellent. Most of all my better half loved it and if the boss is happy Im happy!

I stayed at Courchevel 1650 a few years ago and loved it!! I don't remember it being any more expensive than any other resort.
I still haven't booked my trip in March (too many options - still researching!), but Courchevel is now on the cards!

Have been to Courcheval area a few times, mainly La Tania Le Praz would say no more exspensive than any other major resort. If you choose to eat slope side towards 1850 or in centre then you will pay heaps, those places are not set up for people on chalet holidays or in appartments.
Had a look on website and found a chalet for 27million so a few people
are not bothered what the cost of anything is.But you can get cheap food in the centre of 1850 from the take away next to the Kallico.
Superb slopes, off piste, and lifts will be back this year.

Weather was fantastic, Snow was great, food in our catered chalet was to die for and the staff were top notch. A big up to Nielson for organising everything for us again this year  And and even bigger thankyou to Olly & Alyssa our chalet staff for looking after all 16 of us.
I'll post some pics later once I've uploaded them
If anyone has thought about staying in Meribel, I wouldnt hesitate in recommending it... The best skiing in Europe

Hi all,
Just came back from two weeks in merbiel and it was fantastic skiing. Chalet was great fun with a group of friends and highly recommended.
Would i stay there again? Probably not. I found the slopes are not as well looked after as in Val Thorens and Courchevel. Even with a dump of snow the slopes back to the village were preety poor. I would ski that area again though and stay in VT probably. The lifts make it so easy to get everywhere and only a few are slow.
Pub prices were high...but exchange rate doesnt help and probably the same in any resort with a captive crowd. i found pints ranging from 4 euros in Cactus at happy hour up to 6.50 in Barometer. Food wasnt too bad as long as you dont eat in the mountain restuarants. And the burgers in 'Scotts' were great!
