The first year I went was fine until you got to the bottom of the slopes. The second time got a little slushy in the afternoons near the bottom of the slopes. Neither time did it come close to ruining our trip.
I'm hoping in January this year it will be better. Previous trips were later in the year.
Just in case I am making sacrifices to Ullr, daily, from now until we go.

I've never booked because getting to the ski lifts requires either walking or waiting for buses. Everything else sounds fab though!
What ever floats your boat
This was my main worry but the record over the last 3 years in January appears to have been good so I thought I'd have a change and if it does not live up to my expectations I'll kill the sisiter-in-law who raves about the place.
You will have a great time, reports say the apres side is ok not as rowdy as it used to be back in the eighties, but for me it is all about skiing and not apres, I'll be interested in your report when you get back 8)

I cannot remember skiing slush in any resort I have been to over the years, I guess I just select carefully

From one with experience recently, there is no rowdy Apres at all in Sauze. Its got a good range of bars, and some have loud music, quiz nights and sky tv - wow, thats terribly rowdy, isnt it?
As for the lower slopes, ie the run into town, it is VERY often either slushy or closed. First time I went we had to take the chair down as the lower slopes had no snow at all, but the skiing higher up was perfectly good as they have superb snowmaking and grooming. Second year I went the lower slope was skiable, but by mid afternoon it was dangerous and crowded with people heading off, with patches of grass and mud visible.
Just accept Sauze has a poor snow record, and head higher up, and you'll be fine. I'd go back, the ski area is excellent, especially over at Sestriere.

last week's snow was adequate in Sauze. The good news for you AdrianDavenport is that it won't stop falling right now. Just as we were leaving. The conditions were great Friday. Foggy but great snow Saturday, and it's still falling.
For the best aperitvo, I recommend the bar at the bottom of the Clotes lift. The staff there don't speak much English but they are extremely friendly. Kept bringing out plates, which just got better and better. We were even given a bottle of wine to take home one afternoon.
Sauze seems to be much quieter than when we've been in the past but that may be the week we chose. Rowdy it most definitely wasn't.
