ClipperJon, get the boots that fit you, end of ) It's slightly bizarre that the ones that fit, will be uncomfortable in the shop. You have to trust the fitter.

Buy only on fit, not colour, brand, features (as for rear-entry  my god I thought Dave Mac had the only pair) or price. Plenty of posters on the forums, who have made costly errors over the years...in an attempt to save money by not getting boots fitted

Boot manufacturers must love us, every 5 weeks or so, our liners packed down and we had to buy a new pair of boots, as we woke up one day and found we owned a pair of wellies for ski boots

My ski boots definitely fit the profile mentioned above, is there anything that can be done to reverse the packing down effect or am i like clipperjon & going to need to buy new boots?

Clipperjon, do the holiday & buy some new boots in the closed season when the sales are on.

If the boot shell is the right size and shape for your foot, then you might be able to put a new liner in them....Zipfit/Intuition/Foam/original spec.

From what you write it's not looking promising though. Suggest visiting a bootfitter and getting a measurement of your foot in the shell 1st. Then consider options.

There are some silly deals about at the moment, seems they are struggling to sell holidays. Book a last minute deal a few days before you want to go.
I guess the shops will be doing the same sort of deals on boots, so get yourself out there and I've a feeling you'll be able to do both.

If you have wide feet or high insteps hunt for bargains in Easy-fit Rear-entry avoid any boot that is offered as racing or performance (this just means they will be uncomfortable....Buying ski-boots is like buying new shoes if they hurt when you try they on they will be hell after a week.

My OH has rear entries. So do all of my ski mates, with the exception of my two closest ski buddies, but then, I am usually half way up the mountain before they have finished clipping up their boots.

I have always been noted a trend setter!

So, get a good holiday deal, hire your stuff from skiset. Buy boots at the right time, end of season, (I bought mine in July, in the UK!)
