Zurich - ski resort nearby for a day visit

I'll second Hoch-ybrig. I used to have a season card for there for a few seasons about 7 years ago. I personally much prefer this area to Flumserberg, it costs approximately the same for a day pass as Flumserberg, but is more complicated to get to by public transport. Hoch-ybrig requires two trains and a bus to get from Zürich Mainstation, and takes 1.5hours. It also gets crowded on weekends but is maybe not quite as bad Flumserberg.
If you are willing to go to the extra trouble of making multiple train changes and willing to travel for 1.5 hours or so there are multiple places like Elm, Braunwald, Pizol, Togenburg and more which all have similar public transport requirements. It is vey difficult to beat Flumserberg though if you are under time pressure and don't want to pfaff around on the public transport system too much.
If the OP has a two days to spend in a resort somewhere then my recommendations would be different.

Here's another suggestion: Hoch-Ybrig - only 40 miles from Zurich.
Looks perfect for a day, access via railway/bus.
Look at: www.hoch-ybrig.ch/winter/english/
