Hi,

I flew into Lyon with Easyjet last year and they have their own terminal at the end of the airport, the three options for transport from there are either car hire ,coach or tour operator.

The car hire is about a 1km away and to reach the free bus which transports you to one of the three car hire centres (this will depend on which hire firm your car is with) the car hire bus stop is located at the other end of the airport so a trudge through the airport is required (bags with wheels is a godsend).

If you are travelling to the tarentaise resorts of Trois Vallee's, Les Arcs ,La Plagne ,La Rosiere ,Ste-Foy ,Val & Tignes the transfer coach is located right outside the Easyjet terminal (terminal 3 from memory), the downside is that to travel by coach/bus to say Bourg-Saint-Maurice from Lyon is around 3 hours, by hire car it can be done in around 1h 45 mins in good traffic and weather.

It would be roughly the same as the coach journey with your tour operator's transport,in saying and taking all that into consideration.....i have just come back from BsM and used Geneva airport (and have done so many times) i would choose Lyon over Geneva most times,as Geneva now has been chopped and changed around and all Easyjet check-ins are now on the Swiss side only and the passport security check to the departure side is a nightmare now.

The charter airlines used to fly into Lyon a lot, but now they use Geneva, Grenoble and Chambery instead. I think recent developments at Grenoble and Chambery have increased traffic in and out, and thus saved us all long transfers from Lyon.
